Stylish clothes that are accessible to all – Simply Be

Hi everyone!

I am super excited and proud to share today’s post with you guys as I have been lucky enough to collab with online and high street clothing retailer, Simply Be!

I wrote a blog post recently on my experiences with bullying and body confidence and how, considering that the national average is a size 14, women of that size and above are massively under-represented in society.

And this under-representation trickles right down into fashion and retail. It blows my mind that most high street retailers stop at a size 16! And worse, more often than not plus-size brands are not particularly “out there”, fashionable or up to date with current trends in what they offer.

What’s great about Simply Be is that they are one of the few plus-size brands that offer amazing, fashionable clothes at a reasonable price.

I was super excited to pick out my clothes and then decide what I wanted to shoot. The site has a really good selection and as it was right before Christmas, I found myself lusting over beautiful velvet, lurex and sequin pieces.

I settled on this gorgeous wine red velvet tiered dress as one of my items. I literally love everything about it – the colour, the length, thethe ruffles around the sleeves and high neck.

I have this “thing” about wearing thigh high boots under midi and maxi dresses at the moment. It makes me feel a bit like the Mum after she has her makeover in Freaky Friday (you know the scene), but not only are they super warm, but they add a nice layering dynamic to the outit.

Below are the other items I picked and although I only shot the dress for the blog, you’ll be seeing more of the others on my Instagram, for sure.

I chose this similar dress in grey lace, these amazing daisy print heels, this beautiful khaki borg coat and black padded puffer coat for the cold winter months.

I picked the grey lace dress as it feels like the Spring/Summer version of the velvet one. The heels are completely my cup of tea – a quick look at my Instagram will show just how much I love wearing black and white with a pop of bright colour.

I LOVE coats but I don’t have a khaki coat, nor one in this kind of style (shock horror, as I have SO many coats you would not believe) and love how this one has a grey contrast shearling collar which makes it super easy to pair things with. I’ve worn it so far with black mom jeans, a white shirt and black and silver boots and accessories.

The puffer jacket I wore almost every day of my Christmas break. What attracted me to it was the belt feature (as puffer coats can drown you a bit) and the HUGE faux fur trim on the hood (extra as hell and again, very me!) Honestly, I feel like I should be sipping hot chocolate in the Alps when I wear it – it’s so snuggly and warm and looks amazing, too. If you fancy one, size up as they do come up a tad small. I bought a 14 and it fits me fine (I usually wear a 12 in coats/jackets).

More than anything, it was so refreshing to go on an online store and see models who were a similar size to me for once.

Have you ever shopped at Simply Be before? What were your experiences?

As always, thanks for reading.
